We would like to invite you to a FREE DEMO on Thursday, 4th October 2007 8.00pm at The Place (Studio 1), 16 Flaxman Terrace, London WC1H 9AT. The demo will be attended by the highest authority on Doce Pares in Europe, Grand Master Danny Guba and Assistant Chief Instructor Ermar 'Alex' Alexander. The event will feature what Doce Pares is about and will give spectators the opportunity to get hands-on experience on a few basic drills and exercises. This is open to everybody. We all hope to see you there!

Eskrima and Doce Pares
Eskrima, also known as Arnis or Kali, is an indigeneous Filipino Martial Art which utilizes weapons such as sticks (single and double), knife/daggers, espada y daga (sword and dagger), bangkaw (staff), mano-mano (empty hands: kicking and punching), and dumog (grappling) - the Filipino way. It is a complete system by itself.
Doce Pares is an assemblage of various styles. Styles that were brought and introduced into the organization by the founding masters in 1932. To the credit of the leaders of the organization, these diverse and often contrasting styles and skills were all successfully integrated and passed on to the next generation of Doce Pares adherents. The following styles each comprise a portion of the group's training curriculum:
The Close range style (corto) of Lorenzo and Teodoro Saavendra
The Medium range style of Jesus Cui
The Espada y Daga and Corto Orihinal style of Felimon Canete
The Long Range style of Yoling Canete and Vincent Carin
In the later years, the Corto style of Ciriaco Canete and "Pangamut" of Maximo Canete.
News
26th-27th August, Sun-Mon - Merton & Wimbledon Lions Club hosted this year's Morden Summer Fair 2007 held in Morden Park. DG Doce Pares attended this event and demonstrated what Eskrima/Arnis is about for two days running.
September 2007 - Flyers with a FREE class incentive are now available to get hold of at the Shaolin Way martial arts shop in Chinatown (London). Grab one and take it with you to class and you will get a free session at any preferred venue. One voucher per person only.
21 September - The 'Meet and Greet' event at the Philippine Embassy was attended by 2nd Generation British Filipinos and by Embassy staff members as well. Doce Pares, along with GM Danny Guba, was there to promote and represent Filipino Martial Arts.
22nd-23rd September - The Doce Pares seminar run by Grand Master Dionisio Canete in Fawkham, Kent has been a major success! He taught new bangkaw (staff) forms and taught lots of San Miguel and the cha-cha, along with Grand MasterDanny Guba. Thank you to Pat O'Malley for organising the event.
23rd September - After the seminar, GM Diony and GM Danny went straight up to London to train their Doce Pares fighters in preparation for the WEKAF Invitational competition this coming Sunday.
24th September - GM Diony and GM Danny attended Ermar Alexander's class in Whitechapel. It turned out to become a very memorable session between the two GMs. (Note that this Whitechapel class will move to Mile End, commencing 1st October. Please see website for further details.)
25th September - GM Diony and GM Danny, again, attended the Covent Garden class and taught basic footwork, twirling, estokada and cha-cha :) GM Diony also performed a very memorable slow form.
September 2007 - We believe that communication is vital for the human population, especially for those who share common interests and passions. The new Doce Pares Forum has just been launched by Doce Pares for Doce Pares practitioners around the globe. We urge all Doce Pares members to register and contribute! The forum can be found on www.docepares-forum.com

July 2008 - 10th WEKAF World Championships to be held in Cebu, Philippines.
August 2008 - GM Danny Guba has arranged Master Val Pableo to come to the UK and run workshops which will be open to anyone who wants to experience the Doce Pares system.

New London Class
Doce Pares has opened a new club in London!! Classes will be held at The Place near Euston/King's Cross every Thursdays at 8pm, commencing on 4th October where GM Danny Guba and his top students will do a demo for everyone to see what eskrima/arnis is about.
