Refereeing and Judging Workshop

A Judging and Refereeing workshop, the first workshop of its kind in the UK, was held on Saturday, 23 February 2008 at Mile End, London where a good number of people have turned up. The workshop was conducted by Grandmaster Danny Guba 10th degree black belt, assisted by his top fighters, WEKAF World Champions Phil Ireland, Jim Smith and Ermar Alexander.

A set of WEKAF rules, written by Doce Pares Grandmaster Dionisio Cañete, was handed out to each attendee, as well as an Agenda which included topics and issues of sport stickfighting which were discussed over three (3) hours.

A "Recommendations for Improvement of Quality of Sport Stickfighting" short document has been born out of the Agenda.

These recommendations will be applied onto the Doce Pares tournaments and Seni Eskrima Open Championships that are to be held and hosted by Danny Guba Doce Pares in the upcoming months.

Attendees received certificates of participation proving that they were at the event. Grandmaster Danny Guba also appointed Phil Ireland from Danny Guba Doce Pares as Chief Referee and Dennis Valdez from Kapatiran Arnis as Assistant Chief Referee.

The event was a success and we are hoping to have more workshops to come. We are also looking forward to seeing more faces at the next event which will be held in April 2008.

This workshop was sponsored by Danny Guba Doce Pares Original Multi Style System.
